9 Great Ways To Celebrate Spoil Your Dog Day

Did you know that August 10th is Spoil Your Dog Day? We’re not sure why this day has been picked for pampering pups, but we’re definitely happy to support it! Dogs are wonderful pets, who enrich and fulfill our lives with their friendship and keep us chuckling with their goofy antics. Read on as a North Suffolk, VA vet lists some great ways to get Fido’s cute tail wagging!

Mechanical Ball Launcher

Is chasing tennis balls Fido’s favorite game? Treat your playful pup to hours of fun by getting him a mechanical ball launcher. (Note: these are not safe for large dogs, as the balls can choke bigger pooches.)

Puppy Pool

Consider getting Fido a kiddie pool to splash around in. This will make for some super cute pictures!

Doggy Adventures

Take Fido to a local park, or explore a new trail with him. Your pooch may also enjoy a trip to a drive-through for a plain cheeseburger!

Toys

Toys are fun for Fido, but they’re also a great way to keep him active and entertained. Buy or make your pooch a few new playthings.

New Digs

Want another great way to pamper your canine buddy? Get him a comfy new bed!

Frozen Snack

Pick up some doggy ice cream for Fido at a pet store or grocery market. Or, make him some pupsicles by pouring water or sodium-free broth over kibble, chew sticks, or doggy treats.

Yummy Treats

Treats are a surefire way to score some tail wags. High quality store-bought snacks are fine. Fido can also have cooked, plain boneless meat, chicken, or fish; deli meat; hamburger; or hot dogs. A few pieces of bacon or sausage are okay for this special occasion, though you don’t want to go overboard with these fatty snacks. If you want to go all-out, make some yummy homemade doggy treats. Just be sure to use only ingredients that are safe for dogs.

Doghouse

Do you have a yard for your pup to play in? Why not get Fido a doghouse?

Bath

Okay, we’re pretty sure Fido would scratch this one off the list. However, while our canine pals may not exactly love bathing, they really do seem to enjoy feeling soft and clean after.
